Roseville Carpet Cleaning – Mistakes For Dirty Carpets

November 27th, 2009

Keeping the carpets clean in Rocklin isn’t something that is particularly hard to do, it’s just something you have to pay a little bit of attention to at first when adopting a few simple habits, along with a cleaning schedule. If you find yourself struggling to maintain clean carpets, perhaps you’re making some common mistakes. Let’s take a look at the top 5 mistakes people make that accidentally get dirt into their home and then why it stays longer than it should.

1. They don’t take their shoes off on the carpets. This is such an easy one but most households don’t apply this rule. Not taking your shoes off means that all the dirt (and everything else) that’s been in contact with someone’s shoes could be tracked into the home. Think privately to yourself about all the unsanitary and dirty places shoes come in contact with. Yes, it’s definitely not something you want to bring in on the carpet. Not taking shoes off in the home is the biggest mistake people make that get their carpets unnecessarily dirty.

2. They don’t have a rug to wipe their feet on. If there’s not a rug on the outside or inside of the front door (don’t forget the backdoor too) then how can anyone properly wipe off their feet? By not having a rug, the home is inviting people to come in with dirty shoes on. Not having a rug is a simple mistake people make that help get the carpet dirty.

3. They forget to wipe their pets paws when coming in. Having a dog and letting them out, they will get all sorts of things on the paws. If there’s not a towel by the door or a system for always wiping their feet when coming back in, this mistake will mean all sort of random gunk will be tracked into the home from their paws. An easy mistake.

These three tips address mistakes that bring dirt into the home. But what about removing the dirt in the first place? Let’s take a look at the two biggest mistakes made in this regard.

4. They don’t regularly vacuum the carpets. By regularly, it’s meant once or twice a week. This is not an unreasonable amount of time to spend to upkeep the carpets and keep them clean. Unfortunately, along with point number 1 above in regards to shoe removal, this is probably the other biggest mistake people make that keep their carpets dirty.

5. They’ve never bothered with a professional carpet cleaning. For long term care, getting the carpets cleaned about once a year is definitely a good rule of thumb. If this is not being done, it’s a big mistake. Carpet cleaning can be a do-it-yourself project by simply renting the equipment from a shop, or one can delegate themselves to the task of only moving furniture and then call a professional carpet cleaning to come over and do the job. Either way, those who think the carpets will be clean without – well, cleaning them, are mistaken!

These 5 mistakes – in a nutshell, bringing dirt into the home and then not properly cleaning them out – will work wonders for making the carpets dirty. Conversely, correcting these mistakes isn’t hard and doesn’t take too much of your time of money. If you know you are guilty of a carpet cleaning mistake, take some action now and imagine how nice it will be to have clean carpets in the future.
